In 2026, the Czech Republic will host the Women’s Indoor Hockey European Championship. The tournament will take place from January 15 to 18. This prestigious event will be held in the heart of Prague, specifically at the modern UNYP Arena, which offers top-quality facilities and conditions for elite sport. The Czech Republic will host the championship for the first time in eight years — the last home EuroHockey Indoor Championship took place in Prague in 2018, where the Czech women’s team finished in fourth place.

UNYP Arena as the main venue

The Prague-based UNYP Arena will serve as the central venue of the tournament. It is located close to Metro Line B and can accommodate up to 1,300 spectators. Its facilities rank among the best in Prague.

“Indoor hockey is really special to me,” says national team captain Kateřina Laciná. “Playing on home soil is always something unique. Our goals will definitely be aimed at reaching the top four. At last year’s World Cup, we were just a small step away from the final. So if we have the same strength in the team as we did last year, we’ll definitely be aiming for the highest places.”

“The home atmosphere will definitely be special. I hope as many fans as possible will come to support us, because there will surely be plenty to watch. Just like in 2018, when we last played the home European Indoor Championship. I believe that in Prague we can beat anyone — just like when we defeated Germany in 2018. But there’s still a lot of hard work ahead of us before the tournament.”

“Indoor hockey is a dynamic and fast-paced version of traditional field hockey, played indoors on a smaller pitch, which puts emphasis on technical skills and quick play. Thanks to that, the championship promises plenty of exciting matches and great sporting performances.”
